McGrath Pond (or as the locals say, “McGraw”) provides great recreation year-round. The fishing is great as evidenced by the great Brookie caught in early January.

This winter just past, snowmobiles going out onto the ice were rare. An occasional 4-wheeler. No trucks at all – too dangerous. People went out mostly on foot – towing their equipment on sleds, taking their kids and dogs. No ice shacks on the lake all winter – that’s unusual! – although we saw lightweight portable shelters on the coldest days.
